The Institute is looking for a talented studio engineer to begin work immediately on a part-time/internship basis. Engineers based in London will be at an advantage, but exceptional mixing engineers based elsewhere may be considered too.

The Paul Institute is a new music company founded in London by Jai Paul, Anup Paul and Muz Azar. In March 2016 the company released artist A. K. Paul's debut single 'Landcruisin' to acclaim. Moving forward, our aim is to cultivate a collaborative group of arts and technology enthusiasts committed to taking our members through new adventures in music. But we’ll need your help!
Who you are:
The ideal candidate will be a bright, friendly and well organised student or recent graduate with a passion for music. An engineering school background is not essential, however you must be well-versed in all different aspects of recording technology, excellent with software, and have a deep understanding of digital multitrack recording programs such as Logic Pro/Pro Tools/Ableton etc to working confidently in live sessions recording guitars, drums and so on.
Advanced computer skills to manipulate sound editing and controlling software, as well as the ability to identify the proper pitch, volume or effects for each sound involved in a recording will be vital. Also, an understanding of the technical expertise required to know which pieces of hardware equipment are best for a particular purpose and how to operate such equipment, are an added bonus.
This role will be best suited to applicants with an excellent attention to detail, problem solving skills and patience all with the ability to provide results of the highest quality whilst meeting strict deadlines.
What you could be involved in:
-Planning and assisting recording sessions with producers and artists
-Setting up of microphones and other equipment in the studio from vocal recordings to drum sessions. -Working with software and outboard effects and processors
-Operating recording equipment and adding effects
-Mixing tracks to produce a final ‘master’ track
-General maintenance of studio equipment and instruments.
-Ability to solder, test and fix faults will be valuable.
-Optimisation of studio computer equipment for latency, cpu efficiency etc.
-Installation of plug-ins, sample packs, switching between mac and pc platforms.
-Logging or recordings and general organisation of computer files and samples in the studio archives.
This is an entry level job and paid at internship and apprentice salaries, covering all typical expenses during your time with us. The position provides a great opportunity to make new connections and gain valuable insight into the music and creative industries at the highest levels.
The internship will last for an initial trial period of 3 months with potential for more permanent positions thereafter.
